This first-class cake exceeded all my expectations. I would not have thought that such delicious recipes could be found in newspapers back then. In the newspapers it is called “Quark Apple Cake with Streusel”. You need a lot of ingredients to prepare it, but the work is rewarded. It’s an apple pie, but the apple flavor is barely noticeable. You have to try it!

Baking tray (30 x 40 cm)

For the Ouark Oil Dough:
300 g wheat flour (2Β½ cups)
1 pack of baking powder
150 g low-fat cottage cheese (5ΒΌ oz)
75 ml milk (β

75 ml cooking oil (β
cup)
75 g sugar (β
cup + 1 tbsp)
1 pack of vanilla sugar
1 pinch of salt
For covering:
2 apples
150 g butter at room temperature (5ΒΌ oz)
100 g sugar (Β½ cup)
Some grated lemon zest
4 egg yolks (size M)
850 g low-fat cottage cheese (1 lb 14 oz)
50 g semolina (1ΒΎ oz)
4 egg whites (size M)
For the sprinkles:
200 g wheat flour (1β
cups)
70 g peeled, ground almonds (β
cup + 1 tbsp)
100 g sugar (Β½ cup)
Β½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
150 g butter or margarine at room temperature (5ΒΌ oz)
Baking time: about 50 minutes
Top/bottom heat: about 180 Β°C / 356 Β°F
Convection: about 160Β°C / 320Β°F
